Evolved Searching on Pinterest (2020-2022)

With an exceptional cross-functional team, I developed and delivered a long-year vision, and yearly strategies and roadmaps for Pinterest Search.

The vision for Pinterest Search is to become Pinners’ Lifestyle Expert, delivering all Pinners the inspiration they need to live the life they love.

Over this time, Search has launched a mix of user-facing and ML products to evolve Pinterest’s search landing page, search features, and search results page.

As a result, Pinterest saw searching exceed 5B monthly total searches (a 2x increase over this time period)

Established Shopping on Pinterest Search (2020)

As the product lead for search, I lead a team to launch a suite of shopping features in Pinterest Search that enables Pinners to find inspiration from & buy products they love.

Our goal was to nurture and grow shopping as a real use case on Pinterest Search. The team launched a number of features included Search Shop Tab, merchant discovery recommendations, and improvements to in-app upsells & recommendations.

As a result of this work, product searches on Pinterest grew by 20x over FY ‘2020

Founded Inclusive Product at Pinterest (2019)

In 2019, I pitched the need to form of an Inclusive Product group at Pinterest. With exec buy-in, a group comprised of applied research scientists, frontend & backend engineers, PMM, designers, and PM came together to build a more inclusive product, one that enables all pinners to find inspiration to live the life they love.

In the year of inception, I served as the founding PM. The team launched Pinterest’s in-house visual skin tone model, which predicts the skin tone of people feature in beauty pins on Pinterest. This model was 3x more accurate at predicting skin tone ranges than our previous.

We also launched a new, more prominent redesign of skin tone ranges in search to drive more awareness and comprehension of this feature. We also launched this feature to non-US markets for the first time ever. The redesign drove 5x more adoption of the feature for beauty searches.

The team continues to drive groundbreaking, industry-leading work on inclusive & fair products & AI, including most recently Hair Pattern Search.

Launched Instagram Ads (2013)

I served as the analyst on the founding team that launched Ads (for the first time ever!) on Instagram. Specifically, I guided the launch by delivering insights on ad serving performance, user engagement patterns, and user sentiment on the initial introduction of sponsored posts on Instagram.

At the time, this launch unlocked and generated millions of dollars of revenue for the business. Today, well.. the rest is history :)
